MEMBERSHIP

The RCMP Veterans’ Association is a non-profit fraternal organization. Its primary goals are:

→ Promote fellowship and a concern for one another including active, associate and life members of the division, widows and widowers; and

→ Act as a volunteer resource.

The following are some activities Calgary Division is involved in:

1. Visit and provide assistance to shut-ins and members in hospital;

2. Provide volunteers during the summer months to Fort Calgary to assist with tourism and to act as Force ambassadors;

3. Provide volunteers to staff “Old Morley Detachment” during the Calgary Stampede to assist with tourism;

4. Participate in the Calgary Stampede Parade;

5. Provide pall bearers and honour guard at funerals;

6. Attend Remembrance Day Ceremonies;

7. Assist with fund raising for Fort Calgary;

8. Organize socials for the membership throughout the year;

9. Provide assistance to members with health claims and benefit submissions to Veterans Affairs Canada and other organizations; and

10. On an ongoing basis look for ways to improve the lives and living conditions of our members.

General By-Laws of the Association

Section 106.1

The Association shall consist of the following categories of membership:

1. Active

2. Transitional

3. Life

4. Associate

5. Honourary

6. Honourary Life

7. Honourary Officer

8. Patron

1. Voting Members include: Active Members in good standing and Life Members.

2. Non-Voting Members include: Active Members not in good standing, Honourary Members, Honourary Life Members, Associate Members, Honourary Officers and Patrons.

   
   

Section 106.2

Active Member includes any former member of the RCMP, any former member of the Reserve and any former member of the auxiliary other than a member discharged for unsatisfactory conduct.

Spouses of members, Public Service Employees and Municipal Employees, who have worked for the Force or have had a close relationship with the Force, are welcome to join the association as an Associate Member. Associate Members do not pay membership dues, do not have voting privileges and cannot hold office.
